You step into the shower. A new message lights up your phone, showing its contents on the lock screen. Your partner glances over without meaning to.
How many secrets must one hide to move gracefully through a lifetime?
Tsangyang Gyatso
Privacy is often exposed in nothing more than an unguarded moment.
You leave the meeting for a moment. Your unlocked phone remains on the table. While you are away, someone picks it up.
You have just finished talking with her, but the conversation, notifications and attachments remain on your phone. Before sleeping, you check everything, afraid you missed a trace.
22:46 · HOME
You take a shower. A private message lights up the phone beside the sofa.
It is not deliberate snooping. The notification simply appears in view.
They are sitting on the sofa with no intention of checking your phone. But a name, avatar or message preview is already visible on the lit screen. A single glance can be enough to raise questions.
BoldWord hides private chat inside a genuinely useful everyday Web App. Notifications match the selected cover, and opening one still leads only to a reader, news app, game or your custom page.
From arrival to opening and attempted entry, the real conversation should never appear.
The notification never reveals a chat
When a private message arrives, the screen shows news, reading or game updates that match the current cover. It never shows the contact, avatar or message body.
Opening it never reveals a chat screen
Even if someone taps the notification, the same ordinary Web App opens. It does not lead to a conversation list or any message thread.
No one but you can see the real conversation
After your custom sequence of taps or presses, facial verification is still required. Holding the phone, opening the notification or knowing an entry exists is not enough.
We hid the messenger. Real discretion means it looks different for every person.
Private messages appear as game scores, news updates, reading reminders or other ordinary notifications that match the selected cover.
Someone who taps the notification sees only reading, news, a game or a utility, never a chat list or message content.
You define how to enter. After a sequence of taps, a long press or another action opens the hidden door, facial verification is still required.
14:20 · MEETING ROOM
Important conversations should not live inside a messenger everyone knows how to open.
An ordinary messenger is an obvious target. On an unlocked phone, anyone knows where to tap and what to inspect.
Financing, acquisitions, executive changes, undisclosed projects and conversations with private advisers or partners can stay separate from everyday workplace chat. They never appear among contacts, recent conversations or workspaces in common platforms.
In some negotiations, you may even choose to let someone inspect the phone. They see a real, useful ordinary app with no chat icon, locked folder or suspicious entrance. Finding nothing gives suspicion nowhere to land.
Critical communication stays separate from everyday platforms. With a self-hosted server, contacts, messages and attachments remain in your environment, while no chat entrance is visible on the device.
Keep the conversation away from everyday platforms and keep nearby people from knowing where to look.
Important conversations stay out of everyday messengers
A separate invitation and contact system avoids address-book uploads and keeps sensitive relationships out of WeChat, WhatsApp, Slack or Teams.
Keep the server in your own hands
Use our hosted service or deploy your own domain, chat service, database and attachment storage. You decide where data lives and when it is destroyed.
No obvious chat entrance on the phone
When the page loses focus or sits idle, the private space locks independently and returns to its ordinary cover. Even an intentional inspection reveals no chat icon, contact list or recent conversation.
People who look still do not know where to tap
You define the entrance. Only the correct tap sequence, long press or other action, followed by facial verification, reveals the real conversation.
01:17 · BEDROOM
1:17 a.m. You have just finished talking with her. Your partner cannot discover the relationship.
With a private or undisclosed relationship, the greatest risk is often what remains after the conversation.
Chats, notifications, unsent drafts, photos and attachments can each reveal her presence. BoldWord was designed without a local chat-content cache. Leaving or locking the private space clears local content immediately.
When the conversation ends, you can simply put the phone down.
We deliberately prevent the device from
retaining cache, reducing traces as far as possible.
No local cache for conversations or unsent drafts
Messages and drafts appear only while in use. Leaving or locking the private space clears them immediately, leaving no local history or recoverable draft for a faster reopening.
Re-entering offline reveals no history
Without a server connection, even entering the chat window cannot retrieve previous conversations from the device.
Private photos and attachments are not cached locally
Photos and attachments are fetched from the controlled server only while viewed. Leaving or locking clears them locally instead of retaining copies for faster access.
Send one link and start talking.
Making contact simple is central to BoldWord. There is no app download. The invitee opens the page, adds it to the Home Screen and sees you immediately, without paying.
Send the link
Add the invitee, create a private link and send it.
Open in a browser and add to the Home Screen
The invitee opens the link and adds the Web App to the Home Screen. The next time it opens, you are already in the invitee's contacts and ready to talk.
When it matters, you can take control and cut every connection.
Contain exposure before it spreads.
If a device is inspected, an identity is exposed or a contact is no longer in a trusted environment, risk can spread through messages, photos, attachments and linked devices. The initiator can end communication, revoke access and process controlled data so the traceable path stops there.
Cut off communication and revoke access. Destroy the data. Make the risk disappear at the exposed end.
In an emergency, every connection between the software and server is cut. It becomes an ordinary app.
End every private connection immediately
Stop all private contacts from sending or receiving new messages and cut every active communication path at once.
Server and local connections are both invalidated
Server sessions, device links and local access states expire immediately. A recovery password is required to reconnect.
Clear server data with no product recovery
After confirmation, online messages, private photos and attachments on the server are cleared and cannot be restored through the product.
State the latest backup expiry time
Backup data expires according to a published lifecycle, with the latest completion time stated clearly instead of a vague promise to disappear immediately.
Protect every relationship that matters to you.
Inside the private space, everything should feel as natural as a familiar modern messenger. Privacy should not mean awkwardness or force an invitee to learn an unfamiliar workflow.
What matters has never been encryption alone, what gives you away is the moment you stop acting naturally.
BoldWord How it works
From opening a link to creating a private line for two takes only minutes.
-
Open and add to the Home Screen
BoldWord runs in the browser. Once added to the Home Screen, it installs like a native app, without an app store or download history.
-
Choose a cover and lock it
Choose the icon and name shown on the phone, then enable Face ID. From then on, it opens only when you are looking at the screen.
-
Invite the person who matters
Share the invitation with the person you want to talk to. This private line belongs only to you; no one else can discover or join it.
Your team. Your server. You are in control.
Use our hosted service or deploy BoldWord on infrastructure you control. It suits individuals, small teams and short-term projects that need a fully independent instance.

Want a system that belongs entirely to you?
For the highest privacy requirements, BoldWord can run independently on hardware that belongs only to you. It suits teams building private channels with external partners and anyone who needs an instance no one else can access.

It may not be a messenger for everyone.
It may suit you if:
- You have a conversation you do not want a partner, family member, colleague or anyone else to discover
- People nearby may handle your unlocked phone
- You want special contacts completely separate from everyday chat lists and address books
- You are willing to pay so invitees can join for free
- You want to end connections in a crisis and control when server data is cleared
It may not suit you if:
- None of your conversations need to remain unknown to others
- Only you ever use your phone
- You do not mind special contacts appearing in ordinary messengers and address books
- You only need a free everyday messenger
- You do not need to clear your server-side chat history
After all, what is wrong with having two completely different ways to talk?
All voluntary acts are directed toward what appears beneficial to oneself.
Thomas Hobbes, Leviathan
These are the real questions.
BoldWord does not ask you to believe a promise of absolute security. We explain what it does, how to use it and what it cannot do.
Some words belong in everyday chat. Some relationships deserve another way.
First, what is it?
Is it meant to replace WhatsApp, Signal or WeChat?
Why are locked chats or hidden folders not enough?
Does BoldWord retain chat history?
How does the invitee join, and what can others see?
How do I invite someone to start talking?
Does the invitee need to pay?
What appears on the lock screen when a message arrives?
Can someone find the chat entrance after opening the app?
Does everyone use the same cover?
Data, control and security boundaries
Can I host the data on my own server?
Can I cut everything off immediately in an emergency?
Can BoldWord guarantee that nothing will ever be exposed?
Create a private connection that belongs only to you.
A low-visibility ordinary appearance with no persistent local chat history. You pay; the people you invite join directly.
